Bare Minimum
You don’t need to spend thousands on top-tier camera gear when starting out. The bare minimum is simply an iPhone with a good-quality back camera.
I recommend no earlier than an iPhone 13 Pro Max. The rest of the gear is helpful and can enhance your content, but it’s optional.
1. iphone
I use the iPhone 13 ProMax (content phone) and an iPhone 12 mini (personal phone). It’s not necessary to have 2 phones like me, but it is really helpful to help you separate your business and personal content.
The mini works better when I’m using my gimbal (lighter) and the 13 Pro Max has better-looking content.
2. one-tap magsafe tripod
I use the JustTap MagSafe tripod from Kraftgeek because it’s super efficient, great for travel, and overall super sturdy. You can use the code TranUGC for 15% off your order!
nice-to-haves
Upgrading your tools will only benefit you later and allow you to upsell additional services like professional photos or drone videography/photography.
3. dji osmo pocket 3
This is a travel vlogging camera with a built-in stabilizer.
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, discreet for shy vloggers
Cons: Default color-grading is gray and looks bad in low light. You have a choice to shoot in D-log and color-grade it manually but that’s more work. You also have to transfer footage from device onto phone or desktop in order to edit.
4. DJI Mini Pro 4
This is quite the investment, but I think it is totally worth it and personally, I believe all travel creators need to own one. Trust me when I say hotels and Airbnbs LOVE seeing drone footage, and this increases your pitching leverage just that much.
